It is  Record after opening liquor store.  In just 10 hours, 100 crore rupees worth of liquor was sold in Bengal.  Within a few hours, the booming economy recovered.  The sale of liquor started from 3 pm on Monday.  After that, the liquor store opens on Tuesdays from 12 noon to 6 p.m.  At the end of the day, it was seen that liquor worth of 75 crore was sold only on Tuesday.

Foreign liquor made in India and domestic liqueur together, on an average, sells around Rs 40-45 crore per day.  The state government earns Rs 16,000 to Rs 16,000 crore through this industry.  According to retailers and wholesalers, the last two days of business have covered 40 days of losses.  In some shops in Kolkata, liquor worth of 8 to 9 lakhs was sold on Tuesday.  Retailers think that if the shop had been open all day instead of 3 pm on Monday, the business would have surpassed around 125 crore.

One of the retailers said, “On Tuesday, out of two and a half thousand liquor shops in the state, 1600-1600 shops opened. The number on Monday was around 1300-1400.  Shopkeepers could not open many outlets in Kolkata and Howrah on Monday due to late orders. ”  In Kolkata, about 50-55 off-shops did business on Tuesday, which is about 20 more than on Monday.  Most of these outlets are in Central and South Kolkata.. About five shops were allowed to open in North Kolkata following the guidelines of the Containment Zone.  According to Excise Department sources, medium-sized Bevco warehouses sold an average of Rs 1-1.5 crore per day on Monday and Tuesday.  Besides, the three big warehouses at Kashipur, Kharagpur and Panchla have witnessed a turnover of over Rs 3 crore in these two days.  A Bevco official said they still have 4-5 days' worth of wine in stock.

Meanwhile, in the Corona situation, the state government imposed an additional 30% sales tax on liquor from April 9.  But vendors are having some trouble getting enough stickers to re-label wine bottles.  As a result, they have been asked to maintain the price chart in front of the shop.

In the meantime, the social distance raised by Corona's warning went up .  It remains to be seen whether this decision to open liquor shop is responsible for the spread of Covid-19 disease and that is how much.
